The main part of this course takes a deterministic approach to valuing companies, in which the valuation assumes away most of the errors, randomness, and mis-measurement in the company’s financial information. While the course introduces several sensitivity and scenario analyses, you are reminded, where applicable, of the shortcomings of the basic models and the key limitations of the approaches taken. This course focuses on the baseline analysis so that you have an understanding of the tools and concepts necessary for pursuing further more advanced materials.

According to your location and career goals, you can choose to work in public or private sector roles, from large multi­national companies such as the ‘The Big Four’ Accounting and Professional Services firms, to government departments such as The Government Economic Service (GES). International organisation like the International Monetary Fund, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the EU Commission or UN, together with banks, insurance companies, accounting firms, consultancies and not-for-profit organisations all seek economists with the latest technical expertise and knowledge.

Overseas fees, alongside all other sources of income, allow the University to maintain its abilities across the range of activities and services. Each year the University's Finance Committee consider recommendations for increases to fees proposed for all categories of student and this takes into account a range of factors including projected cost inflation for the University, comparisons against other high-quality institutions and external financial factors such as projected exchange rate movements.
