I think nursing not only includes taking care of patients and helping out the doctors. I believe that there is some art to nursing as well, other than all the education and science involved of course. I believe that that caring is the essence of nursing, and that it should be viewed by the nurses as their moral ideal of preserving human dignity. This is to be done by helping the patients in finding some deeper meaning to their illnesses and suffering so that they are able to understand themselves better and are able to restore and promote their personal harmony and balance between the mind, body, and soul. Thus, I believe that nurses have to be consciously engaged in caring for the patients if they are to connect and establish relationships that work to promote their health and healing.

Not just humor, but the overall tone of your application essay is remarkably important. It's also difficult to get right. When you are asked to write about your accomplishments, those 750 words on how great you are can make you sound like a braggart. Be careful to balance your pride in your achievements with humility and generosity towards others. You also want to avoid sounding like a whiner -- use your essay to show off your skills, not to explain the injustices that lead to your low math score or failure to graduate #1 in your class.

One of the earliest influences on the New Age was the Swedish 18th century Christian mystic Emanuel Swedenborg , who professed the ability to communicate with angels, demons, and spirits. Swedenborg's attempt to unite science and religion and his prediction of a coming era in particular have been cited as ways in which he prefigured the New Age. [49] Another early influence was the late 17th and early 18th century German physician and hypnotist Franz Mesmer , who claimed the existence of a force known as " animal magnetism " running through the human body. [50] The establishment of Spiritualism , an occult religion influenced by both Swedenborgianism and Mesmerism, in the . during the 1840s has also been identified as a precursor to the New Age, in particular through its rejection of established Christianity, its claims to representing a scientific approach to religion, and its emphasis on channeling spirit entities. “We must consider the time and exertion which we employ for the relief and instruction of the poor and ignorant – as most conducive to our own advancement in perfection, and the time given to prayer and all other pious exercises – we must consider as employed to obtain grace, strength and animation… [without which] all our efforts would be fruitless. 17 … We ought then have great confidence in God in the discharge of all these offices of mercy, spiritual and corporal – which constitute the business of our lives”. 18
